In Sojourner Center’s Child Development Center (CDC), our teachers witness the strong connections between parents and their children. One mother’s story of resilience in particular stands out because of her determination to provide stability for her family despite recovering from the trauma of domestic violence.
While in our program, this mother dealt with housing and job uncertainties, and her son’s struggles with drop-offs at the CDC added to her stress. Even though she was not feeling completely stable in her own life, she remained a source of comfort for her son and ensured he felt secure before starting his day.
Her dedication paid off when she landed an interview and then received a job offer. Throughout her time at Sojourner Center, she showed remarkable strength in balancing her own challenges while supporting her children in navigating their own adversities. Her actions demonstrate the love and devotion that drive parents to create safe and caring environments for their children.
Her story reminds us of the resiliency within our community. It highlights the importance of providing support and understanding for families facing a myriad of difficulties. Together, we can create a community where parents feel empowered to pursue their goals and provide the best care possible for their children.
If you or someone you know is experiencing violence, please reach out to our 24-hour helpline at 602-244-0089.
