Statistics

In the United States, domestic violence affects millions, with particularly concerning rates in Arizona. Likewise, sexual assault poses a significant threat to women nationwide, with Arizona reporting high levels of sexual violence. Furthermore, we explore the issue of human trafficking, a global problem that also finds a concerning foothold in the United States, with Arizona serving as a key area for both sex and labor trafficking.

National

  • On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men.
  • Intimate partner violence accounts for 15% of all violent crime.
  • On a typical day, there are more than 20,000 phone calls placed to domestic violence hotlines nationwide.
