During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we want to highlight a valuable member of our team who is dedicated to raising awareness of this issue. Meet Maressa YoungWhite, our Community Outreach and Lay Legal Program Manager!
Maressa leads and supports the teams that make up our Community Outreach and Lay Legal program. Maressa chose to work at Sojourner Center because she has a deep connection to our mission. She is not just an employee; she is an advocate on and off the clock, aiming to support those who have been impacted by violence. Outside of work, Maressa enjoys expressing herself through poetry, both writing and reading and spending quality time with her grandchildren and golden doodle.
For Maressa, Domestic Violence Awareness Month is a call to action. She believes that awareness, understanding and acknowledgment are the first crucial steps toward implementing a “No Tolerance” approach to domestic violence. By recognizing the issue and showing support, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of survivors.
