Megan’s story is a powerful example of how trauma-informed care can support survivors in their healing journey. As a young mother going through a divorce from her abuser Megan faced overwhelming challenges and felt lost. From the moment she connected with our Community Outreach program, she was shown the compassion and understanding that is central to trauma-informed care.

With the help of her case manager, Megan created a participant-led case plan that allowed her to take control of her life and set achievable goals. Rather than feeling powerless, she was able to focus on building her self-sufficiency and taking small steps toward a brighter future.

Throughout her journey, Megan was shown respect and empathy, and her unique needs and experiences were always at the forefront of her care. She was able to achieve incredible things, from successfully navigating her divorce and child custody cases to paying off debts and building a savings account. With each accomplishment, Megan was empowered to recognize her own strength and resilience and to know that she could achieve anything she set her mind to.
