We are pleased to share that Devin DeFendis, our Director of Advocacy and Training, was selected as the domestic violence provider on the Maricopa Regional Continuum of Care (CoC) Coordinated Entry (CE) Collaborative. This group works to improve access to housing and resources for individuals experiencing homelessness, making recommendations to the CoC Board on policies and operations for the Coordinated Entry System.
Domestic violence is a leading cause of homelessness among women and children, and survivors often face significant barriers to safe housing. By having a dedicated voice in the CE Collaborative, Devin will work to ensure that survivor-specific needs are prioritized in policies, resource distribution, and service coordination—helping survivors access the safety and stability they deserve.
Sojourner Center believes that safe housing is essential to breaking the cycle of abuse. We are committed to advocating for survivor-centered housing solutions and collaborating with community partners to ensure that no survivor has to choose between safety and homelessness.
