Sojourner Center recently celebrated the 1,000+ volunteers who have supported the organization over the past year with its annual volunteer appreciation event.
The donut-themed celebration included a “decorate your own donut” bar, raffle prizes, “donut be shy bingo” and much more. It also gave volunteers the opportunity to mix and mingle, and get to know each other better.
Attendees enjoyed a special video message from those who have been directly impacted by their support. The video highlighted the positive outcomes achieved as a result of their volunteer work.
The event ended with an awards ceremony, which gave us the opportunity to recognize some of our most dedicated volunteers with awards including the Volunteer of the Year Award, Youth Volunteer of the Year Award, Volunteer Group of the Year Award and Service Partner of the Year Award.
This year’s Volunteer of the Year was Carol Minchew, who has volunteered with Sojourner Center for over five years, and has donated over 240 hours. Carol hosts a weekly class for residents that focuses on internal healing through decorative and inspirational vision boards.
The Youth of the Year Award recipient was Hunter Trick, who has been volunteering in the donation center for a year, and has served for 50 hours.
ASIS International was named the Volunteer Group of the Year and Midwestern University’s College of Veterinary Medicine was named the Service Partner of the Year.
We are so grateful to our dedicated and passionate volunteers. Thank you for all you do, and thank you for coming to enjoy this terrific celebration with us!
