As kids return to the classroom, Sojourner Center is committed to ensuring survivors and their children have the resources they need to start the school year with confidence. Our community came together to provide backpacks, books, and school supplies for children to choose from at our onsite book fair.
Access to books and educational resources makes a meaningful difference for survivors and their children. With children making up approximately 60% of our campus population, it is essential to create opportunities to support their continued growth and learning during the school year.
Our book fair felt especially meaningful thanks to the support of our community partners and volunteers. Volunteers from the Phoenix Public Library assisted survivors with signing up for library cards, connecting families with trauma-informed resources, and offering personalized book recommendations.
Through programs and events like our book fair, we see the tangible impact that access to resources and community support can have on the lives of survivors and their children.
