Donate Goods or Services

Sojourner Resource Center

Victims of domestic violence often escape with nothing but the clothes they are wearing. Sojourner Center offers an on-site resource center where participants can select new and gently used clothing of all sizes and styles. Participants shop using a voucher system, free of charge. We are not a thrift store and we are not open to the public. Our staff takes great care to fill our racks with clothing that is up to date and appealing for all ages.

 

April 2021 Needs

Q: Does your donation pass the “love test”?

A: If you would willingly give your donation to a family member or loved one, it passes our “love test” and we will coordinate a convenient drop-off time. If something is outdated or in needing repair we will not be able to accept the donation. All clothing donations go straight to our racks.  We do not expect all items to be on hangers, but we ask that all items be clean with no

**We will be scheduling drop-offs by “appointments only” for all ongoing needs and monthly needs. The website will continue to be updated monthly**

Q & A

Q: How do I make an appointment?

A:  Email the Resource Development Manager at bchull@sojournercenter.org. Let us know which of the items you are interested in bringing in and the day that works best. We will do our best to contact you within one business day to schedule an appointment. Our phone ( 602) 253-9180 and we check messages several times per day.

Q: Where are you located?

A: Donations are dropped off at our Resource Center. 2330 E Fillmore Street, Phoenix, AZ 85006 (between Van Buren & Roosevelt)

Q: Do you offer pickup service for clothing?

A: We do not have pickup service available for clothing

Q: Do you take furniture donations?

A: Furniture donations are on hold for the month. All furniture donations received are used to furnish our Transitional apartments. 

Q: Can you take all of my donations?

A: We are only able to accept items that can be used for participants in our programs. Items that are damaged or obsolete are discarded.

Q: What do I do when I arrive for my appointment? Do you follow social distancing?

A:  Please pull into one of the designated “ Donation Center” parking spaces. Ring the white doorbell at the door and staff will come out to assist in unloading items. We will also provide an In-kind Donation receipt for your records. We are a “mask-wearing zone” and all staff, volunteers, and donors wear masks at all times. We sanitize our carts and other common areas between each donation for the safety of all.

*As a result of Sojourner Center’s (COVID safe distance sheltering) diminished occupancy and capacity, the families are not accessing the same amount of items from the Resource Center.  

*Staff will be onsite to accept all Amazon Wishlist Item deliveries for ongoing needs. Basic needs include new twin bedding (blankets, sheet sets, pillows, mattress pads, mattress protectors), new towels, new full-size hygiene items, diapers/wipes.
