Navigating the challenges of raising a child can be overwhelming.
Factoring in the impact of trauma, raising a child can feel even more daunting. Sojourner Center recognizes the importance of empowering parents by providing them with the tools they need to be effective advocates for their children. Our Child Development Center (CDC), a Quality First accredited school that provides children in our residential programs with opportunities to heal, develop and learn, takes a holistic approach to supporting families. We focus on the family as a whole and provide parents with the resources and support they need to be actively involved with their children’s education.
One of the key ways the CDC supports parents is through parent-teacher conferences. These conferences provide a platform for our teachers to offer early intervention through parenting support and community referrals. During these conferences, parents have the opportunity to discuss their child’s progress, voice any concerns they may have, and work collaboratively with our teachers to set goals for their child’s development and education.
Sojourner Center understands that healing from trauma is a journey that involves the whole family, and we are committed to supporting both parents and children in this process.
