On Mother’s Day we celebrate the love, strength, and sacrifice that define motherhood. At Sojourner Center, we are continuously reminded that mothers come in many forms, and so does their resilience.
Meet Haley*. She is the full-time caregiver for her son, who lives with multiple disabilities and requires assistance with all daily activities. Each day presents new challenges for Haley, such as managing complex medical needs, navigating a lack of insurance, and ensuring her son has everything he needs to thrive. Despite these obstacles, Haley takes on each day with determination.
Haley’s case manager works closely with her to identify support options, navigate the complicated healthcare system, and access basic needs. Just as important, we’re there to listen, to encourage, and to remind her that she is not alone. Through it all, Haley remains positive. She always focuses on what she has rather than what she’s missing.
This Mother’s Day, we honor Haley and all the women like her—mothers who carry more than their share.
