At Sojourner Center, we have an incredible team of individuals who are committed to proving support and services to survivors of sexual violence. Among them is our Sexual Violence Case Manager in the Community Outreach Department, Ashley Baker.
What is your day-to-day?
My day-to-day really is centered around our participants. After all, that is why we are all here – for our participants and our community. As a case manager, I am providing direct service to survivors of sexual assault. I work alongside and offer support to many survivors each day.
Why Sojourner Center?
Sojourner Center is a well-established, participant-focused organization. This organization also offers room for personal and career growth which is exactly what I was looking for in my career search!
What is your favorite part of your job?
I have a phenomenal team! I really enjoy those I work with. Our management and staff offer great support, encouragement and guidance. I am truly grateful for the team I work with.
What is one thing you want everyone to know about Sojourner Center?
I would love our community to know the extent of the programs, services and support offered at Sojourner Center.
Why is Sexual Assault Awareness Month so important?
Sexual violence is a community issue. Chance is, we have or know someone who has been personally impacted by sexual violence. When we bring awareness to the issue, we can work together with community partners to collaborate on how to best provide comprehensive services to survivors. We learn from our community partners and most importantly, our participants. With what we learn, we can build a stronger network of support and resources for survivors and their families.
What are 3 things you enjoy doing in your free time?
I absolutely love spending time with my husband and our 10 children. We enjoy watching them play sports or going camping and fishing as a family. My husband and I enjoy taking an evening for ourselves to enjoy a good comedy show or movie. Lastly, I love to unwind with a good book or yoga.
