When school lets out, families adjust to a new rhythm. Parents and caregivers face real logistical and emotional demands with children home an extra eight hours each day, especially those already navigating difficult circumstances.

The clubhouse at Sojourner Center holds space for community, including the more than 50 children currently in our care. Volunteer Stephanie visits weekly, bringing supplies and planned activities that give children something consistent to look forward to. Those weekly shared afternoons forge real relationships, built through creativity and showing up.

Additionally, the need in the kitchen is just as real.

With school out, the meals children would normally receive during the school day disappear. At Sojourner Center, our food service team makes sure no family goes hungry by providing three meals a day, every day, for roughly 160 survivors. That’s 480 meals prepared and served daily, all summer long!

Whether it would be meaningful to you to serve a meal or serve as a mentor, there’s a role here for you at Sojourner Center this summer. Our volunteer opportunities include Kitchen Support,  Youth Engagement, and many more. Learn more and get involved!
