“Support, hope, freedom, and empowerment.” These are the words that come to mind when PJ thinks of Sojourner Center.
PJ began supporting Sojourner Center in 2023 as a Shelter Advocate, working directly with survivors as they took their first steps toward safety and stability. When asked about his most memorable experience, PJ shared:
“Welcoming new survivors into the program and being a friendly face as they settle into a new temporary norm is something that will always stick with me. You can sense that even in the midst of chaos and confusion, there is a glimmer of hope that each survivor carries as they take the first steps towards a better life.”
Today, PJ is employed at Banner Health as a specialist in their Human Resources department. According to PJ, his connection to Sojourner Center remains strong. He claims he continues to support Sojourner Center with monthly donations because of what he witnessed firsthand.
“I have seen the amazing work that Sojourner Center does to benefit survivors of domestic violence,” said PJ. “Sojourner Center provides the right resources at the right time to empower and uplift these survivors.”
When asked why he believes consistent donor support is critical, PJ shared:
“We get to be the backbone of organizations like Sojourner Center who are making a difference in our community by making sure the organization has the resources it needs to reach its goals and fulfill its mission.”
While PJ balances a busy career and family life, he remains intentional about supporting nonprofit organizations he believes in.
“I do not always have the time to provide that direct, hands-on support that I would like to,” said PJ.

“Consistent giving keeps me connected to the heart and mission of Sojourner Center and ensures I am contributing a small part towards making a difference in the community and in the lives of the survivors supported by Sojourner Center.“
PJ’s story is a powerful reminder of how consistent giving provides something survivors truly need: stable, reliable support.
