At Sojourner Center, healing often begins with small but powerful moments of care.
Recently, through our Community Outreach Program, a participant received lay legal case management as she and her child’s father worked toward reconciliation. With guidance and resources from our staff, she was able to move forward confidently, including the dismissal of past legal matters, while also receiving counseling referrals to support her continued growth.
But sometimes, it’s the little things that make the biggest difference. Along with legal and emotional support, staff shared a self-care bag filled with simple comforts like nail care items, a face mask, and other thoughtful goodies. Her face lit up with joy as she realized it was exactly what she needed: a small reminder that she is worthy of care, rest, and renewal.
This story is a testament to how Sojourner Center meets survivors wherever they are in their journey. From practical legal resources to moments of kindness, every step of support helps survivors and their families build stronger, healthier futures.
