At the age of 12, Luke and his family arrived at Sojourner Center and he immediately felt a sense of calm that he hadn’t felt in years. Their idea of escaping their abuser had once seemed like a distant dream, but now, it was a surreal reality.

It wasn’t long before Sojourner staff established a supportive rapport with Luke. Our staff played a pivotal role in Luke and his family’s recovery, emphasizing their safety and healing. They taught him that even in the darkest times, a helping hand is always within reach.

Today, Luke has a full-time job, and he and his family are thriving. He shared that the experiences he had while living at Sojourner Center have profoundly shaped the man he has become. Luke is forever grateful that he was given the space to rediscover what it means to live freely, without fear.

If you or someone you know is being affected by violence, know that a helping hand is always within reach. Call our 24-hour helpline at 602-244-0889 or visit our website for assistance.
