Services

What We Provide

Sojourner Center’s mission is to provide a continuum of multi-cultural services to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence and human trafficking in Arizona. Our staff facilitate immediate participant safety as survivors flee from abuse, and promote healing in a supportive environment with access to a full range of essential services. All programs and activities are designed to help survivors develop resiliency, strength, and confidence so they can establish and maintain violence-free lives.

Sojourner Center, a long-standing pioneer in the domestic violence community, is committed to implementing best practices and evidence-based methods for addressing the impact of domestic violence on all fronts.

Resilience

Trauma-Informed Care

Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) is a framework for client services which recognizes, understands and responds sensitively to the impacts of all types of trauma on individuals. TIC additionally focuses on providing those who have experienced trauma with both physical and emotional safety while rebuilding their sense of confidence and control over their lives. This approach believes that individuals who have been impacted by trauma can recover and heal, it also works to prevent re-traumatization.

At Sojourner Center, we recognize the significant trauma impacts that domestic violence and human trafficking can have on the individuals and children we serve. We strive to ensure that TIC is implemented at all levels of services, from the daily interactions with residents in all of our programs, to ongoing staff educational trainings on trauma, and incorporation of TIC practices into agency policies. This approach is one of three key components to providing Sojourner residents with the highest standard of care.
